About Me – Gabriel Giani

A Life Dedicated to AI, Innovation, and Technology

I am Gabriel Giani, a father of four (Leonardo, Camila, Nicolás, Casandra), married to the most wonderful woman, Daniela. I am an entrepreneur, immigrant, technology enthusiast, and thinker.

I was born in Argentina, and I am also Italian. I speak Italian, Spanish, and English. Over the years, I have traveled to more than 300 cities worldwide, immersing myself in diverse cultures. I am fascinated by understanding how different societies live, connect, and interact—each with their unique strengths and challenges. My passion lies in discovering how I can contribute to improving the world, leveraging technology to benefit humanity.

My Journey

My journey into software development started when I was just 8 years old, creating SPRITEs on a Commodore 128 with the guidance of my father, Osvaldo Giani, a mainframe developer. Frustrated by losing to my sister in Pac-Man, I had no choice but to learn assembly language at the age of 11 to modify the game, giving myself infinite lives. This was the era of the PC XT 8086, 8-bit, dual floppy drives! Hard drives came later, and we had to manually enter defect lists printed on top of the disk to ensure the OS avoided bad sectors.

Professional Journey

I worked at Accenture, BASF, and TENARIS, but soon realized I wanted to carve my own path. I founded GEMASOFT, where I developed an ERP system for fuel distribution companies. From there, in 2010, I founded IDOMOTICS, creating a machine learning and IoT-based system to help people with disabilities control their homes. This experience introduced me to the world of investments and building a startup with external stakeholders.

The UK government invited me to establish my company in the UK, where I won the Global Entrepreneur Programme, an initiative by the UK Department of Trade and Investment. I set up my first warehouse in China, spending three months there manufacturing my first product while starting to learn Chinese.

I later founded BARO VEHICLES to create an autonomous vehicle for controlled environments. There, I led the team that designed our own computer, the LITA Carrier Board—a dream come true, as I had always wanted to design my own hardware. BARO showed me that not everything had been invented. I became deeply involved in mechanical and electronic engineering, establishing our own electronics assembly plant in the UK—an incredible experience, designing and manufacturing hardware from scratch.

Throughout this journey, software remained my passion. I worked extensively on computer vision algorithms, natural language processing, and vehicle navigation systems.

Current Work & Vision

Then came DAFO AI, the company I co-founded, which focuses on enhancing human capabilities in manual product assembly through a combination of AI and computer vision.

From there, I began documenting my experiences—writing about my passions, fears, hopes, and belief in technology as a force for human well-being.

I love to discover new things, explore how technology can positively impact humanity, and continuously seek ways to contribute to a better world.

This is who I am—a passionate innovator, driven by the vision of a more prosperous society, where our children can wake up to clean skies and a better world.
